Kaye Monk-Morgan | Teacher

Dr. V. Kaye Monk-Morgan is the vice president for Strategic Engagement and Planning at Wichita State University and founder of MNP Enterprises LLC, a consulting and public speaking firm that supports leaders in a variety of industries with foci on equity, women, education, and leadership. Launched after years of supporting the development of others, MNP works with colleges and universities, government agencies, multi-national conglomerates, small businesses and her favorite group of all… students, especially those in high school.

Kaye discovered her passions for university life, leadership and advocacy during her undergraduate years while serving as the Residence Hall Supervisor for the very TRIO Upward Bound Math Science program she would ultimately administer for 20 years. She has been a college administrator for nearly 30 years and has served in multiple sectors of the enterprise; academic affairs, student affairs and now community engagement. Her portfolio of responsibilities includes community and economic development, strategic planning, assessment and accreditation, and coordination of first-generation student services.

An active community servant, Monk-Morgan’s professional and community service record is evidence of her named passions. She has served on non-profit and corporate boards at the local, state, regional and national levels, including serving as the board chair for the Council for Opportunity in Education, a Washington-based, college access and success professional association and advocacy group. She is an Associate with the Kansas Leadership Center, where she supports leaders in their efforts to make progress on pressing community issues. She has earned multiple academic credentials including a Bachelor of Chemistry/Business, a Master of Arts in Public Administration and Doctorate in Educational Leadership.

While all of this is important, what really counts to Kaye is that she is a teacher, student, mentor, mentee, daughter, sister, auntie, wife, and most importantly a mother. She is a life-long learner, aspiring yogi, wannabe long-distance runner and tried and true girlfriend. She lives in Wichita, KS with her husband of 25 years, Derek, and young adult sons, Payton and Cameron, at least when they are on break from college.
